And not funny. I saw a woman beaten by police in Shen Zhen; the police were accusing her of using her toddler for begging. They took the hysterical child from the mother. I came within a hair’s breadth of attempting to intervene. Then fear for my own safety (and freedom), in other words, cowardice, kept me immobile.
Of course I have no idea what ultimately became of either the mother or the child. But the terror of the situation, and my memory of my inability or unwillingness to do anything at the time, still haunts me occasionally. I think that memory is one of the things that makes me want fight against the growing Police State in the War on Consciousness.
_________
Al-Qaeda recently sent 7 operatives into China with explosive devices.
Here’s where they went and what befell them.
1. Beijing operative was sent to bomb one of the cloverleaf overpass intersections.
He found the bridge, but is still lost on it somewhere.
2. Shanghai operative was sent to bomb a public bus.
He couldn’t fight his way onto the bus.
3. Shaanxi operative attacked the public market.
The remote control detonating device was stolen.
4. Chongqing operative was sent to bomb “a government building”.
He chose the Ombudsman’s Office. He was beaten to death on his
way there by the police.
5. Shanxi operative bombed a coal mine causing devastating losses, near total destruction, and killing several hundred miners. There was no news coverage. On returning home, his boss thought the operative was lying about the success and had him executed.
6. Guangzhou operative was sent to bomb the train station. The package carrying the bomb was stolen by a motorcyclist.
7. Henan operative was abducted by human traffickers and was not heard from again.
